grandma was afraid that i'll eh.. not find my way or i dont know.. be kidnapped by a bad guy or something. but i still went out alone to the super mart to get some iodine for a toe wound and a chinese sim card! 50 rmb. i'm not sure this might last quite long - - hahaha. that's like 10 sing.
but might last me a month. i only know a few friends in this city. yepp! however its a lil too hot to play.. i wonder.. maybe i shld meet them still.
i've been to a publishing conference today.. in there.. i'm like the YOUNGEST. and most insignificant one around.. head of xxx.. chairperson of xxx.. prof. whatever.. xxx being some imba big sounding organizations in the field of publishing / chinese medicine.
the talk was rather interesting.. the content is one thing.. observing them is another. there're 5 speakers... lets just say the best speaker is the third.. he.. well. he's the head of the chinese medicine research in the country.. and.. many many.. many titles on his name too.. [he gave me his name card over the lunch table.. and here's how it looks like] ...the catch is that he's 78, and he's blind on the left eye, able to see only light, and the right being really weak in seeing too.. he's got a slanted mouth and he cant speak clearly because of that.. [heard he's got 3 major operations but none took his life.. one of them made the mouth slant]. ....
yes he's the best speaker there..
there's two authors.. one read from the script. he was standing up when he begin.. and somehow he just sat down in the middle of reading it.. he murmured and cant look up... the other author.. better in a sense. did not use a script. but he keep repeating himself. he's in a tao-ist suit thou.. good catch. but the content is close or equal to zero.. so =s.. he's out. then.. the 3rd's the good speaker i was talking about.. sensable and persuasive .. at least he cut his stuff short.. the 4th.. is eh.. very swaying speaker.. when i say sway is what he really do throughout his speech.. he's this extremeist that condemns all science and believe that the da dao [ big way ] which we cannot understand .. and nobody can really get the meaning.. cos there's no fixed meaning.. is the only thing that's in the way of preventing the end of the world. ...he tried to make it motivational.. like.. FUTURE IS IN OUR HANDS!..... i shall not comment any further.. the last guy.. eh.. from the commitee of nobel price nomination guy... he mumbles and he made getting nobel price sound like a piece of cake and too political... = =|
oh one more thing.. i was the only good audience who bother to listen with eye contact / or acturally face the speaker.. = =|.. everyone else were "busy" with their own stuff.. phone ringing... going in and out of the room.. etc etc...
okay.. they are all very very scholarly.. they can quote great ppl.. time.. and event.. quotes.. like nobody's business.. very knowledgeable indeed. respect.
now that's really the main content..
chinese food
i've absolutely nothing against chinese food... its good. tastes good. rather healthy.
there's just one thing. wastage. the culture says.. or shall i say unspoken thingy.. the guests wont be full until there's leftovers.. so.. you order alot.. the more you order.. the better the hospitality [potrayed] and people share plates of food. when there's food.. you try to eat more.. = =|.. there's nth like "your share"..
there were 16 different dishes on our table and its a table of 9... all 16 is large serving.
